Feeling Domestic

Okay in all my married life I have never made jam. I know, I know, it is super easy and yummy and I should have done it many many years ago. So yesterday, F and I took a trip to Wal-Mart to buy the necessary items for freezer jam. I bought the most delicious strawberries at Costco and just needed pectin and ziplock bowls. I got a No Cook Strawberry Freezer Jam recipe online and got to work...after the kids were in bed of course. It was so easy and fun. I loved it. Thanks, Jen for inspiring me. Feeling domestic.

Sunday in RS, our RS pres. talked about different aspects of being prepared. She first touched on gardening. So while I was at Wal-Mart, I bought 2 tomato plants. I am really excited to see if they produce anything. I have tried growing them from seeds with no success so I am hoping that this will work. I potted them in organic soil and manuer and gave them plenty to drink. Last night I brought them inside because it's still too cold for them. Feeling domestic.

I am really excited to try my jam but don't have bread worthy of it so I am making bread today. I have really enjoyed my KitchenAid and have made lots of dough. I freeze lots of it too which I have never done but love that I'm not wasting any of it. It's really nice because I just pull it out in the morning and we can have pizza rolls for lunch on homemade wheat bread. So good. So today I am going to make white bread. Warm homemade white bread with butter and homemade strawberry jam will be a delicious treat. My mouth is watering. Feeling domestic.

That's awesome! Way to go, Staci! You know, two minutes before I read your blog I was just thinking that I should also make some jam. I have made strawberry freezer jam just once before. I'm going to Wal-mart today, so I guess I should follow your example and buy the strawberries and pectin rather than the prepared jars of jam.

Oh you are very domestic!! I just recently learned how to make bread and can't stop, it is amazingly fun, and I never thought it would be that fun or knew how many different things I can make with one simple bread recipe!!

Oh, I miss when my mom would make homemade strawberry freezer jam. I'm not sure I'm ambitious enough to attempt it. (I know you say its so easy, but have you met me?)

ooooo! I have a phenomenal jam recipe, I'll have to email it to you to try sometime. Cheers to you. You'll be so glad you made it when you have some on toast in the middle of winter...

I love making jam...especially raspberry, I always use the pectin recipe that is inside the box. Congrats on 12 years, its quite the accomplishment...plus you have such beautiful children too!

Ok, you are SO domestic. Pretty soon you are going to tell us that you are getting a cow right? oh that's right - you don't need to there are enough right there in your town. I am impressed. I need to make jam too (strawberry is our favorite) but as we are in the thick of packing for once I will buy it. I will admit - homemade jam is the best, but it is even better when you pick the berries yourself and the kids can help.

is there any way you could email me the questions that you had her answer in the journal? I would love to do something like that for Doug's grandma...

You are domestic... I'm so impressed! Now I am the only one who hasn't made it. Actually, my mom and I made it together once. Does that count?
