The Balloon Races

We had to leave the house by 4:30am to make the Balloon Races in Reno. We got there just in time for the 'Glow Patrol', that's not the official name. 5 balloons were set up in the wee hours of the morning to 'glow' for our enjoyment. It was spectacular! I loved it. The announcer would say, 'Get your cameras ready because the balloons will 'glow' in 10 seconds. 10 . 9 . 8 . 7 . 6 . 5 . 4 . 3 . 2 . 1 . GLOW!' Then they rose into the air and would take turns 'glowing'...and then all together. It was really pretty. The kids loved it.






After the 'Glow Show', tons of truck, carrying balloons made their way onto the field. They set up right in the middle of things...so many balloons. And we got to watch it all happen. I love watching balloons being blown up and then lifting off the ground. There's something magical about the whole thing. The kids were a bit chilly but we found them playing tag and eating donuts to pass the time. They were so good to take tons of pics with the balloons.






The Reno Balloon Races happen every year. I remember last year, this was going to be the first 'event' we would attend...except Brandon ended up in the ER and the kids went with our new friends the Heussers and Larkins to see the balloons...and thanks to Paula, I got to scrapbook this fun activity for the kids, even though Brandon and I missed it.
I was so glad to have been there this year. What a show! Now all I have to do is pick whick pics will make it onto my scrapbook page. We took so many good ones. I may have more than one layout.

I have always wanted to see something like that. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Love all the pictures yea you are definitely going to have a hard time chosing the best ones for your scrapbook pages.

WOW! What a neat family outing. Every summer they have a balloon fest up here in Eden/Ogden Valley. We've driven past it but never had a chance to stay and enjoy. You've inspired me to make it there next year. I think our kids would love it too. Thanks for sharing some wonderful photos. Hope you all are doing well!

how fun! i remember doing that when i was young, but i didnt appreciate it. all those pictures are so beautiful.

sorry we didnt call you while we were in tahoe!! we would have loved to see you guys, next time for sure!

What a fun thing to see!! My kids loved looking at the pictures of the balloons. It must have been amazing to see it person!

That looks so fun I did that once when I was little and still remember it. I want to take our kids to something like that one day!! Love the treats I thought they were real at first glance way too cute. I am in the same boat as you I read peoples blogs but don't get time to comment too often,with todd using the computer for school at night I loose my only time without kids interrupting me.
