Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Every year, when I was a kid, my mom would make Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. Green butter for our toast, green milk and OJ, green oatmeal, too. She always had a green gift for us to wear to school like a green shamrock pins or green ribbons and clips for our hair. For dinner we would have Cornbeef and Cabbage with Irish Soda Bread, red potatoes, and some kind of green vegetable. I loved St. Patrick's Day as a kid.

My kids get the green eggs and ham...the green butter and green OJ. They don't like my Cornbeef and Cabbage and since Brandon is out of town we are going to foregoe the tradition for just this year. For dinner we will be having Lucky Charms in green milk with Shamrock Pancakes.
My mom sent the kids a St. Patrick's Day package that I hid from them until this morning. When they woke up they found their packages on their breakfasts plates. They were so excited to see what Grandma Sanchez sent them this time. They opened their packages while I made breakfast. They each got a green St. Patty's Day shirt, green candy...Andes Mints (my mom used to hide in her top drawer and we would always sneek them and hope she never realized) and Irish tatoos! The girls got green, gold, and silver beaded necklaces and green St. Patrick's Day bracelets, too. What a fun St. Patrick's Day package. Thanks, Mom! They loved them!
There is another reason we love celebrating St. Patrick's Day. My mom was born on March 17th...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! We love you so much and wish we could be with you to help you celebrate your special day. We called her at work this morning and we all sang 'Happy Birthday to You'. We're so glad that you're our Grandma, Mom, and Friend.

What a fun day. We didn't do anything on that day except avoid getting pinched by wearing green. It is nice to have a date to remember your mother's birthday with.

Staci! It was so good to hear from you. I've actually checked out your blog a couple of times from Mary's and Geneva's. Your family is darling. I think you were pregnant with MaKinley (sorry if I spelled it wrong)and I was pregnant with Katelyn when you moved. I remember good visits from you when I was in the hospital. It's so good to see you guys! Keep in touch and I'm going to link you on my blog so I can see you often. You're just up the road (a ways, but up the road anyway). Take care and say hello to Brandon!
